Bauxite and flint clay are raw materials preferred in the refractory industry. These materials originate from sedimentary rocks, each possessing different aluminum contents.
Lincem’s bauxite undergoes mining and refining processes in Shanxi province, Northern China. Our natural bauxite has low iron and alkali contents and undergoes a calcining process at temperatures ranging from 1600 to 1800℃ in rotary and special shaft kilns, forming mullite and corundum phases. With high refractoriness, good mechanical strength and moderate slag resistance, our bauxite is an ideal raw material for the production of shaped and unshaped refractories used in cement and metallurgical plants. Typical calcined bauxite from Lincem contains Al2O3 ranging between 70% and 88%, depending on the natural sedimentary composition of the product.

Our company also offers flint clay, also known as hard clay, with a high percentage of silica. This unique type of clay is sourced from a mine in Zibo City located close to our factory. Unlike regular fireclay, this alumina-silicate material is denser and harder. Flint clay boasts impressive heat resistance and, thanks to its specific properties, serves as an excellent raw material for the production of high-quality refractory products. The application of flint clay results in refractory products that excel in withstanding extreme heat and harsh chemical conditions. Industries such as metallurgy, ceramics, glassmaking and cement favor refractory products based on flint clay over those made from normal fireclay due to its superior properties.
